American Pancakes for vegans or not

Originated from America. Well-known and loved by everyone. Tasty and easy. Good for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Served with syrup, fruits or powder sugar. Yes, I’m talking about pancakes!

Although it’s a common knowledge to believe that pancakes come from America, it’s proved that Greeks and Romans have consumed them. Over the last century pancakes develop to be part of almost every culture and now it s served in different variations all over the world.

Depends on used ingredients, pancakes can be prepared in many ways. Today, we’ll present you a recipe in two ways: for vegans and non-vegans. No matter which you follow, we guarantee that you’ll love them!

Time: 40 minutes

Serving: 15 pancakes

Ingredients

  • 200g of plain flour
  • 1 egg (don’t use in vegan version)
  • 250 ml of milk/soymilk
  • 2 teaspoons of baking powder
  • 2 teaspoons of sugar
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • butter or oil for frying/coconut or vegetable oil

Preparation

To begin with, shift the flour, baking powder, salt and sugar into a bowl and mix.

Secondly, add milk and egg. Beat it carefully until your batter is smooth. let it stand for a few minutes.

In the meantime, heat the frying pan over the medium heat. Coat with oil. Add 1-2 ladle of batter and fry. Wait until bubbles appear on the top of the pancake and turn it. Fry until both sides are golden brown.

Finally, serve with maple syrup or powder sugar or any other your favourite toppings.
