The crostini is an Italian appetizer which origins date back to the Middle Ages, when Italian peasants ate their meals on slices of bread rather than on plates.
Ingredients
- 12 slices of bread
- 4 tomatoes
- 6 slices of Bayonne ham
- 2 balls of mozzarella
- Basil
- Olive oil
Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 180°C.
- Toast the bread slices and place them on a baking tray.
- Cut your tomatoes and mozzarella into slices, as well as the Bayonne ham.
- Arrange the tomatoes, Bayonne ham and mozzarella on the toasted bread in succession.
- Drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with basil.
- Place in the oven and serve hot.
