Strawberry parfait

Parfait originates from France and is a traditional French dessert. The oldest known recipe dates back to 1894. The word Parfait is a French word which means ´perfect´. In France parfait refers to a frozen dessert made from a base of sugar, syrup, egg and cream but the American parfait includes more ingredients such as yogurt, granola or nuts.

You can find all kinds of parfaits made for breakfast, an all day snack or as an dessert where they can include many combination of ingredients from cream and fruits (here strawberries), nuts, granola or even gelatin for example.

Usually parfaits are served in a special parfait glass which show the layers of the parfait but those glasses were designed to make the treat perfect as the word parfait indicates. Of course people can use any glass they like, but usually they are see through.
