Comfort pasta for rainy days

On rainy days, Barcelona can be somewhat of a depressing city. Everyone misses the sun and hides inside. A good dose of Netflix binge-watching can make you feel better on days like these. Add some good comfort food and your frown will be turned upside down in no time. My ultimate favourite: a nice heavy pasta meal.

Ingredients (for 1 person):

  • 100g pasta (normal spaghetti or penne are my favourites)
  • 250ml double cream
  • Mushrooms
  • Bacon
  • Garlic
  • Pepper
  • Nutmeg
  • Salt
  • Olive oil
  • Parmesan cheese
  • Optional: frankfurters

Preparation

Fill a cooking pot with water on the stove and wait until the water boils. Then add the pasta and some salt and let it cook for about 10 minutes (check the package, every pasta has a different cooking time).

Put some olive oil in a wok pan. Add the sliced mushrooms and some garlic and pepper. When the mushrooms are golden brown, add the bacon. When the bacon is cooked, add the cooking cream and some nutmeg. If you want to add little frankfurter sausages to your pasta (extra yummy!), add them after you’ve added the cream. When the cream starts boiling, add parmesan cheese and stir. Add more herbs by flavour.

Serve the pasta with the sauce and if you want, add some more parmesan on top.

Enjoy!
