Ingredients

  • 1/2 (115g) cup butter
  • 2 cups (260g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 cup (225ml) chilled applesauce
  • 1 cup (200g) white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup (58g) chopped walnuts
  • 1/2 (80g) cup raisins
  • Bitter chocolate (optional)
  • Cream cheese frosting (optional)

 

        Directions

 

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C).
  2. Cream butter and sugar together thoroughly.
  3. Add applesauce and beat well.
  4. Stir in baking soda, flour, and spices.
  5. Add raisins and nuts.
  6. Pour the batter into a greased and floured 8” (20cm) square pan.
  7. Bake at 350°F (180°C) for 40 minutes.
  8. Serve warm.
