Would you like a sip of Sangria?

This traditional Spanish Sangria recipe is quick and easy to make, & delicious to drink especially on hot summer days!

s1-3

A large pitcher of Sangria is the perfect refreshing, fruity wine punch to serve on a hot summer day with friends, or at a backyard BBQ. The vibrantly colored pitcher will not only attract your guests to the beautiful drink, but allow them to serve themselves!

To make your Sangria non-alcoholic and friendly for kids, you can replace the red wine with grape juice.

Ingredients

  • 1,5 bottle of young table wine (don’t use something that’ll give you a hangover)
  • 2 oranges
  • 1 lemon
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 green apple (optional)
  • 2 peaches or apricots (optional)
  • 3 tablespoons sugar (optional)
  • Carbonated beverage (orange soda, lemon soda, or soda water)(optional)

Directions

  1. If you decide to use sugar, dissolve it in 2 tablespoons of water over a low flame to create a clear simple syrup. Let cool.
  2. Wash oranges and lemon & cut off thick pieces of rind.
  3. Juice oranges and lemon.
  4. In a large pitcher or bowl, stir together wine, orange juice, lemon juice & simple syrup, and add in chunks of lemon and orange rind. For a truly traditional Spanish Sangria, simply add cinnamon stick and let sit for at least 2h before serving over ice (this allows the Sangria to take on the aromas of the fruit rind & cinnamon stick).
  5. For a slightly more modern version add in chopped up chunks of green apple and peach.
  6. You can also top off with a carbonated beverage right before serving for some bubbles.

You can also experiment with this classic recipe, using different fruits & fortifying the wine with brandy or vermouth.

¡Buen provecho!Enjoy!
