One of the first reality-hits for almost every freshman student who just left their beloved home and started coping with the real-world situations of living alone, with one of the main ones being learning to cook. Added to constant lack of time because of studying and outdoors’ activities, but the remaining wish to eat delicious food, almost all students face the same problem – it is not easy to cook something fast, but delicious. However, in this “Quick and tasty” edition we are presenting you a bunch of fantastic recipes that you can easily make at home with the least time possible. Our tour starts with deliciously easy to make potato pancakes.

The recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 beaten egg
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 4-5 big potatoes
  • 1 chopped onion
  • 1 pinch of black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • ¼ sour cream for topping

Preparation

First of all, whisk together egg, salt and peeled grated potatoes in a large bowl until incorporated. Then. stir the chopped onion and season everything with black pepper.

Secondly, heat oil and butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Swirl the pan to combine. Divide potato mixture into three or four equal portions and shape into pancakes. Place the pancakes in the pan and reduce heat to medium. Cook until a well-browned crust has formed onto the bottom of the pancakes, about 10 minutes. Flip each pancake and flatten slightly. Cook until other sides are browned, 7 to 8 more minutes.

Lastly, transfer to plate; top each pancake with a dollop of sour cream and enjoy your easily made tongue-biting wonder!
