Apple crumble

A lazy twist on the classic apple pie. It is a British pudding that originated during World War II food rationing. This recipe is easy to make, which allows for any substitutions or alternatives to suit everyone’s dietary preferences. The ease level makes it a perfect dessert to both make and enjoy with kids, family and friends.

Ingredients

  • 6 apples
  • ¾ cup oats
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • ½ cup flour
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • ½ cup butter

Preparation

Peel, core and slice the apples in cubes.

Preheat the oven to 375 °F / 190 °C.

Layer apples into baking dish.

Mix together the flour, brown sugar, oats and cinnamon in a bowl. Add in vanilla and cut in butter with a pastry blender or fork. Work until mixture forms large crumbs. Sprinkle the mixture over the apples.

Bake for 30-35 minutes or until topping is browned and apples are soft. Serve while warm.

Recommendation serve with vanilla ice cream and add nuts, berries or syrup of choice.
