Snezhanka Salad, is a traditional Bulgarian salad, made of cucumber, strained yogurt, dill, peppers, walnuts, garlic and parsley. It became popular during the 20th century and the name of the salad “Snezhanka”, actually means “Snow White” (like the heroine in the fairy tale): a reference to the white color of the salad.
Ingredients
- 500g strained yogurt
- 3 garlic cloves
- 6 sprigs dill, chopped
- 2 cucumbers
- Salt
- 3 tablespoons of crushed walnuts (optional)
- 5-6 olives (for garnish)
Preparation
- Peel and dice cucumbers and put them in a large bowl.
- Add yogurt, oil, dill, walnuts and garlic.
- Season with salt, stir well and put in the fridge for a few hours or even for a night.
- Garnish with olives.
