Ecuadorian Ceviche, the perfect dish for seafood lovers

Shrimp ceviche, “ceviche de camarón” in Spanish, – one of the most popular Ecuadorian ceviches! It’s very popular all around Ecuador, but especially at the beach. No wonder, it’s delicious and a perfect dish for seafood lovers!

Ecuadorian ceviche

Ingredients

  • 1kg shrimps, tails off, thawed, cooked
  • 4 tomatoes, diced or thinly sliced
  • 2 red onions, thinly slice
  • 1/2 cup (10-15 limes) fresh lime juice
  • 3/4 cup (1 orange) orange juice
  • 115g cup tomato ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon mustard
  • 1 bunch fresh cilantro, chopped very finely
  • 2 tablespoons light olive oil
  • Pepper
  • Salt
  • 1 bell pepper (red or green), diced (optional)

 

Preparation

  1. Soak onion slices in salt water for about 10 minutes, rinse well and drain.
  2. Mix all the ingredients together in large bowl and let it sit in the fridge for 1-2h.
  3. Serve with nachos, chifles (fried green banana or green plantain chips) patacones (thick fried green plantains), or even buttered popcorn!
