How to prepare the perfect Greek Salad

Everybody knows about this salad from sunny Greece, so is it worth to write about such a famous and familiar dish? Worth it, of course! If talking about Greek cuisine is inevitable to mention it, because this salad is not just cut vegetables. It’s summer and freshness with a Mediterranean flavor.

Ingredients

  • 600g tomatoes (3-4 large tomatoes)
  • 1 medium or small cucumber
  • One red onion
  • 6 tablespoons olive oil
  • One green bell pepper and one red bell pepper (in case you want to add colour to your dish)
  • 10-12 olives
  • 1 tablespoon capers (optional)
  • 1 cup crumbled feta cheese
  • One tablespoon dried oregano
  • Red wine vinegar (to taste); recommended 1 tablespoon
  • Ground black pepper and salt to taste

 

Directions

  1. Cut peppers and onion into tight slices, peel cucumber (optional)  and then chop roughly, then cut tomatoes into irregular wedges.
  2. In a large salad bowl put first the cucumber, the tomatoes and after that mix with peppers and capers.
  3. Cut feta cheese into cubes and add them to the mixture.
  4. Decorate with olives; pour dressing over salad, toss and serve.

Don’t forget to drink Ouzo while eating this delicious salad!
