Chicken Sweet & Sour

Enjoy a homemade taste of Asian cuisine with this super delicious recipe


  • 1 cup white flour 
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup cold water
  • 1 tbsp starch 
  • 1 kg chicken breast cubes
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste 
  • 2 tbsps oil
  • Oil for frying
  • 2 tbsps minced ginger 
  • 1 minced garlic clove
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp vinegar 
  • 1 onion
  • 1 large carrot
  • 2 pineapple slices (cut into chunks)
  • ½ red bell pepper
  • ½ yellow bell pepper
  • ½ green bell pepper

For the sauce:

  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1 cup pineapple juice (unsweetened)
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp white vinegar 


  • In a bowl, mix the flour, egg, cold water, and starch together very well. 
  • In another bowl, put the chicken breast cubes and marinate them with salt and pepper. Then, leave the chicken in the mix for some time, perhaps few hours. 
  • In a pot on the stove, put frying oil and wait until it heats up. Then, add the chicken cubes to fry. Leave it to fry until the color of chicken becomes gold. 
  • For the sauce, mix the ketchup, pineapple juice, sugar, and vinegar. 
  • In another pot, put 2 tbsps of oil. Then, add the ginger, garlic, sugar, and vinegar. Then, add the peppers, onion, carrots and stir for some time. Then, add a pinch of salt and pepper. Then, add the sauce and wait until boiling.
  • Add the fried chicken and mix all together then add the pineapple pieces and wait until the sauce becomes thicker. 
Ready for serving 🙂
